INDIA-PAKISTAN TENSION 2025.05.14 | Situation Tension

Since India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire agreement on 10.05.2025 conflict situation between both countries has continued to de-escalate, while no ceasefire violation incidents were reported during the last day, 13.05.2025.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Indian Prime Minister Mr. Modi has warned terror groups and terrorists that India's armed forces would launch formidable counterattacks if faced with a repeat of the attack in Pahalgam.
  • Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were eliminated by the Indian Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Pakistan said that the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India is a result of the diplomatic efforts of different countries.
  • Casualty since India launched missiles on 07.05.2025:
# India - deaths 18, including 5 soldiers/ injured 46

# Pakistan -  deaths 51, including 11 military personnel / injured 121, of whom 78 were Pakistani armed forces. 

1.  Following the Indian PM Modi's address to the nation on Operation Sindoor, Modi visited the Adampur airbase in Punjab on 13.05.2025 to meet and honour air warriors and soldiers who played a pivotal role in the recently concluded Operation Sindoor: 
  • During his speech at Adampur Airbase, Prime Minister Mr. Modi said, 'I can proudly say that all of you have reached your target with perfection. In Pakistan, it was not just the terrorist camps and their air bases that were destroyed, but their nefarious designs and audacity were also defeated.
  • Modi has also warned terror groups and terrorists that India's armed forces would launch formidable counterattacks if faced with a repeat of the attack in Pahalgam.

2.  India on 13.05.2025 declared a Pakistani official posted at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as persona non grata and directed him to leave the country within 24 hours. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the official was found to be involved in activities “not in keeping with his official status.” Pakistan also declared a staff member at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad persona non grata "for engaging in activities incompatible with his privileged status". In both cases, the individuals were told to leave the country within 24 hours. 

3.  Indian Foreign Secretary Mr. Vikram Misri will appear before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs on 19.05.2025, The committee, chaired by the Indian National Congress Minister of Parliament Mr. Shashi Tharoor, is expected to receive a detailed briefing on the current state of India-Pakistan tensions.

4.  Lt. General DS Rana, Director General Defence Intelligence Agency (India) briefed the Foreign Service Attaches of 70 nations on the successful conduct of Operation Sindoor that has set New Normals in India - Pakistan relations, highlighting India's demonstrated strength and national resolve through military superiority in the new-age warfare.

5.  In a significant nationwide outreach effort, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will begin its 11-day-long ‘Tiranga Yatra' on 13.05.2025 to honour the courage and sacrifice of India's armed forces, particularly in light of the recently concluded and successful 'Operation Sindoor'.The yatra will run from 13.05.2025 to 2305.2025, with events planned across various parts of the country.

6.  Pakistan Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mr. Attaullah Tarar said that recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India is a result of the diplomatic efforts of different countries. He said Prime Minister Mr. Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to USA President Mr. Donald Trump, who played a pivotal role in the ceasefire.

7.  The recent military escalation with arch-rival India won’t have a large fiscal impact on Pakistan and can be managed within the current fiscal space, with no need for a new economic assessment, Pakistan’s Finance Minister said in an interview, according to the Pakistani State Media

COUNTER TERRORISM OPERATIONS

8.  Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in a fierce encounter in the Shukroo forest area of Keller, Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. Based on specific intelligence, Indian security forces launched a search-and-destroy operation, leading to the elimination of the militants.
  • While the identities of two of the terrorists remain unconfirmed, Shahid Kuttay, a prominent LeT operative involved in several terror activities in the region, has been identified as one of the deceased. The operation, launched by the Indian Army, followed actionable intelligence about the terrorists' presence in the area.
  • The operation led to the recovery of 3 AK-series rifles, hand grenades, wireless communication sets, and other arms and ammunition from the encounter site.
