INDIA-PAKISTAN TENSION - 2025.02.27 | SITUATION UPDATE

Despite no any ceasefire violations reported following both neighbors reached a ceasefire agreement, the situation remains volatile due to the unaddressed grievances such as the India's Stance on Indus Water treaty. However, both nations face domestic pressures to assert strength, complicating de-escalation efforts.

1.  Indian Border Security Force (BSF) inspector general (Rajasthan Frontier) ML Garg said on 26.05.2025 that Pakistan launched 413 drone and missile attacks targeting Rajasthan's Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar during Operation Sindoor, but all were destroyed mid-air by India’s air defence systems.

2.  The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for allegedly spying for Pakistan, officials said on 26.05.2025. Reportedly, the accused, Moti Ram Jat, was actively involved in espionage activity and had been sharing classified information related to national security with the Pakistan intelligence officers (PIOs) since 2023. 

3.  Indian External affairs minister Dr. S. Jaishankar told a parliamentary panel on 26.05.2025 that Pakistan was informed about Indian strikes during Operation Sindoor only after their execution by the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), not before. He firmly rejected claims of any direct contact or US mediation.

4.  Pakistan's Prime Minister Mr. Shehbaz Sharif said that the Pakistan is ready to talk with India "to find solutions" to "longstanding problems", including Kashmir, water-sharing and trade. Addressing a joint press conference with Iranian President Nr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Mr. Sharif as per a report in Pakistani media said, "We are ready to talk, for the sake of peace on water issues with our neighbor." He continued, "We are ready to talk to promote trade and also, counter-terrorism.

4.  Speaking at a rally in Bhuj, Gujarat, Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi firmly stated that Operation Sindoor was a clear reflection of India’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack where 26 civilians were killed, Mr. Modi said India waited 15 days for Pakistan to act against terrorism, but “terrorism seems to be their bread and butter.”

5.  On 25.05.2025 Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to Turkish President Erdogan for resolute support to Pakistan during the recent Pakistan-India standoff. They pledged to boost ties in defence, trade, and counter-terrorism. Erdogan reaffirmed support for Pakistan and called their bond "unbreakable."

6.  Pakistan has taken note of the recent remarks by the Indian Prime Minister delivered in Gujarat, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan in a press release said on 26.05.2025 such statements blatantly violate the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.
